About The Healing Quest PLLC

The Healing Quest PLLC was born out of a vision that healing is not linear—it’s a lifelong journey, often winding, but always worth pursuing. The practice originated in Alaska on January 11, 2021, under the name Healing Talks LLC. It began as a solo venture, created by April McElhenny, LCSW, with the goal of offering trauma-informed, deeply compassionate therapy during a time of global uncertainty and rapid personal change.

Founded at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and shaped by the unique challenges of frequent military moves, the practice evolved to meet clients wherever they were—literally and emotionally. As a solo therapist navigating the world of business without formal training but with a strong family lineage of entrepreneurial spirit, April built her practice through grit, heart, and a deep belief in the transformative power of therapy.

Over time, the practice expanded across state lines, obtaining multiple licenses to serve clients in various locations—many of whom faced similar transitions, isolation, or difficulty accessing care. What started as a single-location offering grew into a multi-state telehealth practice rooted in flexibility, accessibility, and client-centered care.

Eventually, the practice found a permanent home base in Texas, and with that move came a new name that better reflected the evolving purpose and spirit of the work: The Healing Quest PLLC. This new name represents not just the services offered, but the deeper meaning behind them—the idea that therapy is a personal quest for healing, growth, and self-understanding.

Today, The Healing Quest PLLC continues to serve individuals and families with the same heart and mission it started with, while planning for future growth as a group practice. April recently reopened services in Alaska, returning to the place where this journey first began—only now with deeper roots, a broader reach, and a renewed commitment to offering meaningful, accessible healing across state lines.
